With practically no value in betting on Team USA to win outright, our Presidents Cup betting selections go into further detail about the vast discrepancy between these two teams and why you shouldn’t anticipate anything short than a dominating performance from the JT-led Americans.

The Presidents Cup, golf’s secondary team tournament, is here, and as the chances indicate, it might be a one-sided affair.

Team USA is stacked with the world’s greatest and brightest players, including Justin Thomas and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, while Team International is stacked with lesser-known names and second-tier PGA Tour members.

Our Presidents Cup betting selections and predictions feature a few of Americans poised to shine the brightest.

Predictions for the Presidents Cup

Victory margin: Team USA by 7+ points (-138 at OKbet)

That may seem to be a large gap at first sight, but given the nature of these two rosters, it’s easy to see how this week may quickly turn nasty for Team International.

When does Team USA have five of the OWGR Top 10, but all 12 players are ranked in the Top 25, including two Quail Hollow champions in Justin Thomas (2017 PGA Championship) and Max Homa (2019 Wells Fargo). Only three of Team International’s 12 players are rated higher than Kevin Kisner, Team USA’s lowest-ranked player. This week’s talent gap will be enormous.

This is exacerbated by the absence of World No. 3 Cameron Smith, Louis Oosthuizen, Marc Leishman, and Joaquin Niemann owing to their affiliation with LIV Golf. While the loss of Dustin Johnson or Brooks Koepka will be felt by the Americans, the difference between them and their successors (Cameron Young, Billy Horschel, Homa, etc.) is considerably lower than the gap between Smith and Niemann (Si Woo Kim, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Sebastian Munoz).

However apart from talent, the Americans are playing on home turf (they won by eight points the last time they hosted in 2017), have a wealth of team event experience and chemistry that Team International simply cannot match, and are riding the momentum of their 10-point thrashing of the European Ryder Cup team not a year ago a European Ryder Cup team that could just as easily dust this edition of Team International.

Most indications point to this quickly being out of hand, with the Americans threatening another double-digit win.

Points Leader in the US: Justin Thomas (+700 at OKbet)

Although Justin Thomas best represents the spirit of Team USA in team golf competitions, Xander Schauffele, Scheffler, and Patrick Cantlay are now at the top of the leaderboard in this market. Everything seems to be in place for Thomas to repeat as champion.

JT finished last year’s Ryder Cup with a 2-1-1 record, good for 2.5 points. Only Dustin Johnson (who isn’t competing this week), Collin Morikawa (who is entering in questionable shape), and Patrick Cantlay had better records.

Since that time last year, Thomas has had a great year. At the PGA Championship at Southern Hills, he claimed his second major victory. In 22 appearances this season, he also had eight Top-5 finishes. He also ended the season in fourth place overall, third in tee-to-green strokes gained, and ninth in approach strokes gained.

Thomas is this team’s emotional captain, and his performance will support that claim. In 2019 (3.5 points, team-high), he was the team’s leading scorer It will do it once more at Quail Hollow (with a 3-1-1 record).

Points Leader in the US: Cameron Young (+700 at OKbet)

Cameron Young will have another chance to excel and wow this week. The golfer, who is now ranked 18th, had seven Top 3s and five runner-up performances during a season that will undoubtedly earn him the title of PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

His performance in 2022 passed almost all of the tests, establishing without a shadow of a doubt his capacity to compete on par with the big guys. His best weapon is his driver, which is second in strokes gained off the tee and third in driving distance. Despite some subpar approach play and putting performance, he still ranks sixth in birdie average.

Young will be eager to get the most out of this matchplay experience since the Ryder Cup is so close by, and if he is matched up against the weaker side of Team International’s roster, he should succeed in doing so.

Cam could be able to outperform the more advantageous selections in this market, such as Scottie Scheffler (+250), Collin Morikawa (+350), etc., if the Americans take care of business and pull away as predicted by Captain Davis Love III.

Zach Johnson, the 2023 Ryder Cup captain and assistant captain this week, will be keeping a watch on the Youngster in anticipation of him being a mainstay for Team USA in the years to come.
